10-second answer

What to do right now

Fukuoka begins eligible bookings from September 24 as sellers become ready, with stays through December 15. Saga starts selected online sales September 24 at 12:00. Kumamoto and selected Nagasaki channels are already open; Miyazaki and Oita begin selected online sales September 25.

  1. 1Start with the correct prefecture schedule
  2. 2Use only an eligible seller and product
  3. 3Protect your current booking before changing it
Detailed steps

Follow these steps

1

Start with the correct prefecture schedule

Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita and Miyazaki use different sales dates and channels. Confirm the prefecture before opening a booking site.

2

Use only an eligible seller and product

A normal hotel listing is not automatically discounted. Confirm the campaign name, dates and final discount before payment.

3

Protect your current booking before changing it

Reservations made before the applicable launch are not converted automatically. Compare replacement availability, final price and cancellation costs before giving up a booking you already have.

NEW · FUKUOKA PREFECTURE ANNOUNCEMENT

Fukuoka starts eligible bookings September 24

BOOKING START

From September 24

Registered hotels, Fukuoka-based travel agencies and online booking sites begin as each seller is ready. Do not assume every hotel or rate plan participates, or that every seller opens at the same hour.

ELIGIBLE STAYS

October 1–December 15 nights

Checkout must be by December 16. This is shorter than the December 25 stay deadline announced for several other prefectures.

FUKUOKA RATE

50% · product caps apply

Accommodation-only and one-night transport packages are capped at ¥20,000 per person and trip; two-night-or-longer transport packages at ¥30,000; eligible multi-prefecture tours at ¥35,000. A qualifying tour including a Kumamoto or Kagoshima stay can use 60%.

EXISTING BOOKINGS

September 23 or earlier: excluded

Even if the stay falls in the campaign period, bookings made by September 23 cannot be discounted retroactively. Check a new eligible product and its cancellation terms before replacing a reservation.

BOOKING ROUTES

Direct, local agency or online

Fukuoka lists registered accommodation, registered prefecture-based travel agencies and booking sites such as Jalan and Rakuten. Use the official campaign site to verify the exact seller and payment conditions.

NO OVERNIGHT STAY?

Day trips are excluded

The prefecture requires accommodation in Fukuoka or a package with an overnight stay. Sales can finish early when the available budget is used.

Fukuoka Prefecture announced these rules September 18, 2026. Its campaign site is live; participating seller lists and booking-site links are scheduled from September 24. The announcement does not expressly settle every foreign-visitor identification requirement, so confirm your exact product and check-in documents with the seller.

UPDATED · OITA SALES SCHEDULE

Oita uses three different launch dates

FOUR ONLINE SITES

September 25 · 12:00

Rakuten Travel, Jalan, Yahoo! Travel and Ikyu.com are the announced first online channels. Confirm that the exact plan displays the Oita campaign before payment.

LOCAL TRAVEL AGENCIES

October 9

Participating agencies with a store in Oita begin on this later date. Their eligible stay period also begins October 9.

DIRECT ACCOMMODATION

October 16

Participating hotels, ryokan, simple lodging and eligible private lodging begin direct sales later. Their eligible stay period begins October 16.

ONLINE STAY PERIOD

October 1–December 25

Online products use the full announced stay window. Every channel can finish early when its allocation is used.

OITA RATE

50%

The discount is the smaller of the percentage calculation or the applicable maximum. A multi-prefecture product including Oita and Kumamoto or Kagoshima may use the announced 60% rule.

EXISTING BOOKINGS

Not eligible

Oita explicitly says reservations already made are outside the program. Do not cancel until replacement inventory, final price and cancellation costs are clear.

Oita product typeMaximum discount per person and trip
Accommodation-only product¥20,000
Transport package with a 1-night stay¥20,000
Transport package with 2 or more nights¥30,000
Multi-prefecture tour staying in at least 2 prefectures¥35,000

Oita Prefecture added the seller-by-seller schedule on September 15, 2026. Its dedicated campaign site is now live and separates the three booking channels. A separate official implementation notice expressly includes domestic travelers and visitors to Japan.

NEW · MIYAZAKI SALES SCHEDULE

Miyazaki online sales start September 25 at 10:00

RAKUTEN TRAVEL AND JALAN

September 25 · 10:00

These are the two announced online channels. Each seller can use its own booking steps, eligible plans and shorter sales window.

HOTELS AND TRAVEL COMPANIES

From September 28

Participating accommodations and travel companies begin as they become ready. Ask for the Miyazaki campaign when booking directly.

ELIGIBLE STAYS

October 1–December 25

The campaign covers checkout by December 26 and can finish early when the budget or a seller’s allocation is used.

MIYAZAKI RATE

50%

A qualifying multi-prefecture product including Miyazaki plus Kumamoto or Kagoshima can use the announced 60% rule.

EARLIER BOOKINGS

Not eligible

A reservation made before the applicable seller starts cannot receive the campaign automatically.

EXCLUDED TRIPS

Business and public travel

Business-purpose trips and travel paid with public funds are excluded under Miyazaki’s official conditions.

Miyazaki Prefecture announced the schedule on September 15 and opened the official campaign site on September 16, 2026. Participating seller lists and booking instructions are published there as they become ready.

NOW OPEN · NAGASAKI

Nagasaki sales opened through Rakuten Travel and Jalan

ADVANCE OTA SALES

September 15 · 10:00

Rakuten Travel and Jalan began advance sales for named eligible accommodation products. Inventory can end when each allocation is used.

FIRST OTA STAY WINDOW

October 1–November 30 nights

The first Rakuten Travel and Jalan release accepts bookings through November 29 for checkout by December 1. Sales for later December stays are planned from mid-November.

LATER CHANNELS

September 28 and 30

Eligible hotels plan direct sales from September 28. Other travel companies and online sites plan to start from September 30 as each seller becomes ready.

EARLIER BOOKINGS

Not eligible

Nagasaki says only reservations made on or after the eligible product’s sales start qualify. A booking you already hold will not be converted automatically.

Nagasaki’s official campaign page was checked September 15, 2026. The broader campaign runs through December 25 nights, but the first Rakuten Travel and Jalan release has the shorter checkout-by-December-1 window above.

UPDATED · SAGA CAMPAIGN SITE

Saga confirms a noon online launch and direct-booking plan

ONLINE BOOKING SITES

September 24 · 12:00

Saga lists Rakuten Travel, Jalan and ANA X among the online channels, while several others remain in preparation. Use the official campaign links and confirm the discount on the actual product before payment.

TRAVEL AGENCIES

From October 2

Participating travel agencies use a later start. Confirm that the exact product displays the Saga campaign before payment.

DIRECT HOTEL BOOKINGS

Early October · planned

The start for direct accommodation bookings is not yet a fixed date. Wait for the official participating-facility list rather than assuming a hotel’s ordinary rate qualifies.

ELIGIBLE STAYS

October 1–December 25 nights

The official wording covers check-in from October 1 through checkout on December 26. Sales can finish early when the budget is used.

FOREIGN TOURISTS

Visitors to Japan included

Saga explicitly lists domestic residents and visitors to Japan as eligible travelers. The final seller and product rules still apply.

AT CHECK-IN

Sign the usage certificate

Saga says the accommodation asks guests to sign a usage certificate confirming conditions such as non-business travel. Business, qualification-related and day trips are excluded.

Saga Prefecture announced the campaign September 11 and opened its official campaign site September 18, 2026. Seller lists and launch times can change; reservations made before the applicable seller’s start are excluded.

NOW OPEN · KUMAMOTO

Kumamoto sales are open and official seller lists are live

SALES OPENED

September 15 · 10:00

Participating businesses are beginning sales as they become ready. Use the new official campaign site to check the current accommodation and travel-company lists.

ELIGIBLE STAYS

October 1–December 25

The program may end early when the allocated budget is used. Confirm the qualifying product before payment.

KUMAMOTO RATE

60%

The national maximums still apply: up to ¥20,000 for accommodation or a one-night transport package, ¥30,000 for two or more nights and ¥35,000 for a qualifying multi-prefecture tour.

EXISTING BOOKINGS

Not eligible

Kumamoto explicitly excludes travel products and accommodation already reserved before the eligible sales begin.

Kumamoto Prefecture updated its announcement and opened the official campaign site on September 15, 2026. A listed seller may still have a later launch time or exhausted allocation.

NOW OPEN · SEPARATE PROGRAM · KAGOSHIMA

Kagoshima’s separate campaign is open—but it is not the national Kyushu program

PROGRAM

Separate prefectural campaign

The official page expressly says this campaign is separate from the national Kyushu Recovery Support Discount. National Kagoshima details will be announced later.

BOOKING AND STAY PERIOD

Now open through October 13

The official window began September 14 and checkout is by October 14. Participating hotels, travel agencies and online booking sites may launch at different times or finish earlier.

DISCOUNT

60% · maximum ¥20,000

This separate campaign applies to qualifying accommodation in Kagoshima and ends early if the budget is used.

WHERE TO BOOK

Official directory or eligible seller

Use the official direct-booking accommodation directory, a participating travel company or a campaign product on an online booking site. Ask for “Kagoshima Kanko Oen-wari” when booking directly.

One sold-out route does not mean every route is sold out.

Kagoshima’s official directory warns that some hotels may have exhausted their direct allocation. An eligible travel-company or online-booking-site product may still be available. Reservations made before the seller’s campaign launch are excluded.

Kagoshima’s official booking window opened September 14, 2026. Direct hotel and travel-company directories are live, and online booking-site links appear as each seller becomes ready. Do not combine these dates or the ¥20,000-only maximum with the still-pending national Kagoshima program.

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Can a foreign tourist use it?

SAGA AND OITA · CONFIRMED

Visitors to Japan are included

Saga’s traveler announcement and Oita’s implementation notice both expressly include visitors to Japan. You must still use an eligible seller and product and follow the final identification rules.

MIYAZAKI, KUMAMOTO AND NAGASAKI

Timing confirmed; traveler checks still matter

The current official pages publish sales and stay timing but do not clearly settle every foreign-traveler document or residence check. Confirm the live seller terms before payment.

FUKUOKA AND KAGOSHIMA

Check the specific program and seller

Fukuoka has confirmed its booking and stay windows, but its published announcement does not expressly spell out every inbound-traveler document check. Kagoshima’s now-open campaign is a separate prefectural program, not its still-pending national one.

CONFIRMED NATIONAL OUTLINE

These numbers are official

ACCOMMODATION OR 1-NIGHT TRANSPORT PACKAGE

Maximum ¥20,000

The headline percentage stops when the applicable maximum is reached. Check the displayed final price rather than calculating from the room’s list price alone.

TRANSPORT PACKAGE · 2 NIGHTS OR MORE

Maximum ¥30,000

The product must be sold as an eligible transport-included package. Separately purchased flights, trains and hotels should not be assumed to combine into one eligible product.

MULTI-PREFECTURE TOUR

Maximum ¥35,000

The announced category requires accommodation in at least two prefectures. The participating seller’s final product description must identify it as eligible.

STAY REQUIREMENT

At least one night in Kyushu

The announced program covers travel and accommodation products containing a Kyushu stay. Day trips alone are not included in the national outline.

CHECK THE EXACT PREFECTURE AND SELLER

Confirm these five details before paying

  1. 1
    Reservation start date

October 1 is the national starting point for stays, not a nationwide booking launch. Kumamoto and selected Nagasaki sites opened September 15; Fukuoka sellers begin as ready September 24 and Saga’s selected online sites start at noon that day; Miyazaki and Oita begin selected online sales September 25 at different times.

  2. 2
    Exact eligible travel period

Each prefecture can set its own end date and may stop sales when its allocation is used. Do not assume every prefecture will remain available for the same dates.

  3. 3
Participating hotels, travel companies and booking sites

A property being in Kyushu does not make every rate plan eligible. Look for the exact program name on the final product and payment screen.

  4. 4
    Foreign-visitor identity requirements

Check whether the seller requires a passport, residence information or another document at booking or check-in. Do not rely on a translated summary alone.

  5. 5
    Existing-booking treatment

The national outline does not say that an earlier reservation will be discounted automatically. Keep a good booking until the official rebooking and cancellation conditions are clear.

Watch for unofficial “registration” pages.

Use the Japan Tourism Agency, the relevant prefecture and a seller named by that prefecture. Do not send passport or payment information to a page merely because it uses the program name or copies the official discount percentages.

WHEN SALES OPEN

Check the booking in this order

  • Open the official page for the prefecture where you will stay.
  • Confirm that the hotel, travel company or booking site is listed as participating.
  • Confirm the exact dates, number of travelers, product type and discount shown before payment.
  • Read cancellation terms before replacing an existing reservation.
  • Save the confirmation and any document or identity instructions for check-in.
  • Check current rail, road, attraction and accommodation operations separately from discount eligibility.
QUICK FAQ

Questions travelers are asking now

Can foreign tourists use the Kyushu Recovery Support Discount in Saga or Oita?

Yes, both prefectures’ official documents include visitors to Japan. Eligibility still depends on booking an exact participating product after its sales start and completing any seller identification checks.

Is October 1 the booking start date?

No. It is the first eligible stay date in the national outline. Kumamoto and selected Nagasaki sites opened September 15; Fukuoka sellers start as ready September 24 and selected Saga online sites at 12:00 that day; Miyazaki and Oita follow September 25 at 10:00 and 12:00 respectively.

Can foreign tourists use the discount in Nagasaki?

Nagasaki’s campaign is described for travelers, but its official page does not publish a detailed nationality, residence, passport or identity-check rule. Confirm the live seller conditions before payment.

Has Saga opened Kyushu Recovery Support Discount bookings?

Not yet as of September 20. The official campaign site is live and lists selected online sites from September 24 at 12:00, travel agencies from October 2 and direct hotel bookings in early October as planned. Each seller must show the eligible product.

When can I book Fukuoka?

From September 24 as registered hotels, prefecture-based travel agencies and online sites become ready. Eligible stays run October 1–December 15 nights; bookings made by September 23 are excluded. Confirm your seller and exact product on the official campaign site.

Are Kumamoto bookings open now?

Yes. Sales opened September 15 at 10:00, and the official campaign site now lists participating accommodations and travel companies. Sellers can launch at different times or finish when their allocation is used.

Where can I book Nagasaki now?

Rakuten Travel and Jalan opened selected eligible products September 15 at 10:00. Direct hotel sales are planned from September 28 and other travel-company and online-site sales from September 30.

When can I book Oita?

Rakuten Travel, Jalan, Yahoo! Travel and Ikyu.com begin September 25 at 12:00. Participating local travel agencies follow October 9 and direct accommodation sales follow October 16.

When can I book Miyazaki?

Rakuten Travel and Jalan are scheduled for September 25 at 10:00. Participating accommodations and travel companies begin from September 28 as each becomes ready.

Can I book Kagoshima’s separate campaign now?

Yes, the official booking window opened September 14. Use the official direct-booking directory, a participating travel company or a campaign product on an online booking site. Seller launch times and remaining allocations differ.

Is Kagoshima’s September 14 campaign the national Kyushu Recovery Support Discount?

No. Kagoshima explicitly describes it as a separate prefectural campaign. It runs through October 13, while details of the national Kagoshima program remain pending.

Can I book an ordinary Kyushu hotel now and receive the discount later?

Do not assume so. Fukuoka, Saga, Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Oita and Miyazaki exclude reservations made before the applicable sales begin. Use a product that clearly displays the campaign after its seller has launched.

Does the program cover all of Japan?

No. The announced program concerns the seven prefectures of Kyushu: Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and Kagoshima.

Is every trip to Kumamoto or Kagoshima 60% off?

No. The rate applies only to eligible products, is subject to a maximum amount and depends on the prefecture’s final period, participating sellers and remaining funds.

Should I postpone a safe trip until October?

That is a personal booking decision. Official tourism information says many unaffected facilities are operating. Check the exact destination and transport status; do not enter closed or restricted areas.

ASK THE HOTEL OR SELLERIs this booking eligible for the Kyushu Recovery Support Discount?この予約は九州ふっこう応援割の対象ですか?

Kono yoyaku wa Kyūshū fukkō ōen-wari no taishō desu ka?

Important: This is a changing public support program, not a guaranteed discount. Japan Joy Guide cannot confirm eligibility, reserve funding, change a booking or reimburse cancellation costs. Check the current prefecture and seller rules before paying or canceling.

Japan Tourism Agency, Fukuoka and Saga Prefecture announcements and campaign sites, Kumamoto Prefecture and its campaign site, Kagoshima Prefecture, Oita Prefecture and its campaign site, Miyazaki Prefecture and its campaign site, Nagasaki’s official campaign page, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Kyushu District Transport Bureau information checked September 20, 2026.
